I am currently a system administrator at GigeNET. They provide the infrastructure for dedicated servers, cloud servers, co-located servers, and DDoS protection.
My responsibilities include:
- Provide technical support to clients by answering support tickets and telephone calls, and by helping complete new server orders.
- Maintain existing infrastructure, internal systems, the cloud environment, and respond to monitoring alerts.
- Create purchase order requests for new hardware that goes into both development and production.
- Design, assemble, install, and configure new systems for both development and production.
- Research and development for new products and services, and improving existing service offerings.
- Create documentation for internal knowledge base.
Machining Technology, Inc.
(February 2007 – December 2009)
I was the IT Manager for Machining Technology, Inc. Some of my tasks included:
- Create CAD drawings and 3D computer models of job parts using 2D and 3D CAD software.
- I designed floor plans for their new building which was constructed in October 2008.
- Setup and maintain the office computers and peripherals.
- Setup and maintain the company network/VPN and company websites.
- Administer company internal server/domain controller and public web hosting server.
I continue to do work for Machining Technology, Inc. on a freelance basis.
Saint Xavier University
(March - December 2006)
I worked in the Web Development Department in a temporary position to help create a website and virtual resources room for SXU’s 10-year HLC Self-Study review. During this time, I had the following activities:
- Research similar HLC websites by other universities.
- Design template comps for the HLC website.
- Create each page for the HLC website.
- Scan hundreds of University documents into PDF format.
- Name and organize each document for the HLC website.
- Maintain and clean up the main University website HTML using their CMS, which was Datatel ActiveCampus at the time.
- Create new pages for the main University website as faculty members post Word documents to the CMS for HTML coding.
- Attend regular meetings as a member of the HLC Information Team at SXU.
Freelance Web Developer & Linux System Administrator
(2002 - Present)
I have created websites for small businesses, organizations and individuals which I maintain and update as needed. I am proficient with graphic design software such as Gimp, Inkscape, and Adobe Photoshop. I have advanced knowledge of XHTML, CSS, accessibility, and cross-browser development. I'm competent with PHP without the use of a database. I am currently taking certification courses to help expand my skills to writing fluent JavaScript, PHP, and SQL so that I can start creating robust, large-scale applications.
